In this period of COVID 19, AESHI has become increasingly concerned about continuous reports on GBV and worsening socio-economic conditions which have an obvious effect on the well being and safety of women in Africa. For this reason, AESHI in collaboration with Women Academy for Africa (WAFA) will be hosting a webinar between female politicians from across Africa and AESHI lawyers under the theme ‘CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES: BUILDING GENDER RESPONSIVE NATIONAL POLICIES DURING COVID 19’
We believe that as AESHI lawyers there is a specific role that we can play to enhance the work of politicians and policy makers committed to gender equality and the safety of women and children during the era of COVID 19 and vice versa. This webinar is an opportunity to address and unpack the challenges which women from all walks of life are facing as a result of this unprecedented pandemic and to assess what has been done and what needs to be done to support vulnerable groups as well as the activists, advocates and policy makers. AESHI has therefore partnered with WAFA to achieve this vision. WAFA is an international NGO regrouping (African) political parties of labour, socialist and social democratic leanings. It was initiated by the Labour Party of Great Britain. WAFA covers Africa in 4 sub-regions, namely: Southern, East, West and Central Africa. promotion of gender equality, empowerment and political advancement of women in Africa.
The webinar is scheduled for the 29th of May at 6pm EAT via a zoom/webinar link. Should you confirm your interest in supporting this webinar we will co-opt you in subsequent communications and share the concept note, meeting objectives of the meeting with you.
